About Strait Posture Therapy – Reston, VA
Treatment Approach
At Strait Posture Therapy, our focus is simple – helping you move better, feel better, and get back to living the life you love. Whether you’re recovering from a recent injury, have been dealing with pain for years, or are seeking proactive posture correction therapy, our expert care team can help – even if you’ve tried other forms of treatment.
A number of things set us apart from most physical therapy clinics and treatment approaches in our area: We provide full-hour sessions of one-on-one care with a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy. You’ll never be passed off to assistants or techs, nor will you share your therapist’s time with other patients. We believe in maximizing your time in physical therapy with personalized, hands-on treatment instead of generic exercise handouts you can do at home. Instead, we focus on what truly makes a difference – expert manual therapy, clinical movement retraining, patient care education, and a whole-person approach that addresses the root cause of your pain, not just the symptoms.

FAQs
Have Questions?
We are a fee-for-service clinic that is not in-network with any insurance companies. Upon request, receipts can be provided that include the necessary codes to send self-claims to your insurance company. All treatment sessions are one-on-one with a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and are scheduled for a full hour. The rate for treatment sessions and other services vary, so please contact us to inquire about pricing at donna@straitposture.com.
NOTE: Please read "Why Is Insurance Not Billed" on how changes in many health insurance plans - especially deductibles and copayments - have shifted patients to use their out-of-network benefits for physical therapy services at our clinic.
Virginia state regulations allow a Doctor of Physical Therapy to evaluate and treat patients without a referral under the following conditions: (i) the patient is not receiving care from a licensed doctor, physician’s assistant or registered nurse in the fields of medicine, osteopathy, chiropractic, podiatry, or dentistry for the symptoms giving rise to the presentation to the PT initially, or (ii) the patient is receiving care from the any of the above practitioners for the symptoms giving rising to the presentation to the PT initially and (a) the patient identifies the practitioner from whom he/she is currently receiving care; (b) the patient gives written consent for the PT to release all personal health information and treatment records to the identified practitioner; and (c) the PT notifies the identified practitioner no later than 14 days after PT treatment begins and sends the practitioner a copy of the initial PT evaluation.
In accordance with state regulations, all patients will be required to sign a disclosure form prior to treatment without a referral. If you have a referral/prescription from your practitioner, the disclosure form does not need to be signed.
The bottom line: All patients can start treatment without a referral at Strait Posture Therapy.
This depends on the insurance you have, but YES, most NON-Medicare patients can send “self-claims” to insurance companies for their treatments at our clinic. You should be able to print claim forms off your insurance company’s website, and send it in with the needed receipts and treatment codes that will be provided upon request at our clinic.
The amount of reimbursement or application toward your deductible is completely dependent on your insurance plan. If you call your insurance company to inquire about what you can expect to receive, you should ask about reimbursement for “out-of-network Physical Therapy” expenses sent in via self-claims.
In many ways, insurance companies dictate or strongly influence the treatment that patients receive at “in-network” clinics, and we refuse to allow that to be the case at Strait Posture Therapy.
We are an out-of-network practice because the business model necessary for an in-network practice to survive rarely ever allows for the high-level care we insist on giving our patients. In other words, due to progressively worsening reimbursement rates and pressure from the insurance companies, in-network therapy clinics must see at least 2 patients per hour (often more) and commonly use technicians to provide much of the patient care. Furthermore, we do not believe that modalities are nearly as effective as our hands-on treatment, nor do we entrust our patients to perform rehabilitation exercises with an unskilled staff.
All of our patients receive full hour, one-on-one care and hands-on treatment from a Doctor of Physical Therapy in every session. The vast majority of our patients typically involve one appointment per week because of this treatment approach.
When you consider the time savings of fewer trips to the clinic and the value of resolving your pain so much faster than average, the out-of-pocket expense at Strait Posture Therapy is a worthwhile investment in your health.
MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES: The US government and its laws control where Medicare beneficiaries can spend their healthcare dollar and persuade healthcare providers to enroll in their system. Because we are not participating Medicare providers, we can only accept Medicare beneficiaries as patients when the patient does not want Medicare billed for any PT services. This request not to involve Medicare in payment must be made up front by the patient and be made of the patient’s own free will.
In other words, if you are a Medicare beneficiary and want to see us for your care even though we are not Medicare providers, we can help - However, the only way we can provide you with PT services is when you distinctly decide you don’t want Medicare involved and you request up front that Medicare not be billed or involved in your PT care.
If you do want to use your Medicare benefits for physical therapy, we cannot provide you treatment at our clinic but we can help you find a good Medicare provider in your area.
